Did you know that Vicksburg, Mississippi, was the first place the ever-popular Coca-Cola was ever bottled?
In the late 1800s, Joseph A. Biedenharn owned three candy stores in the downtown area and began bottling his strawberry soda to sell in the store. He then started bottling a new drink from nearby Georgia, Coca-Cola, for sale in the store as well. The beverage was so popular that it quickly transitioned from a few batches to outgrowing the store. The new bottling company soon moved down the street to a larger factory, but the original candy store stands today as a museum, welcoming visitors from all around.
